Healthy Homes
On September 18-19, 2006, the NC Housing Coalition, together with the Greensboro Housing Coalition and the Alliance for Healthy Homes, hosted NC's first Healthy Homes Conference. The purposes of this conference were to:
- Expand the array of stakeholders involved in “healthy homes” and “green building” movements;
- Explore the intersections of health, housing, energy, and environment;
- Build consensus and commitment among key stakeholders, including contractors/developers, community-based organizations, policymakers, and opinion leaders;
- Share state and local practices and experiences;
- Discuss and build on emerging innovative practices and policies; and
- Strategize about how stakeholders can work together to reduce health hazards and improve energy efficiency in homes.
