Six in Six - Week Six: To 2012!
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday
season. Once again, during this time, we’ve shared six stories about the
positive impacts affordable housing has had on peoples’ lives. As a
resource and advocacy organization, we see these stories as testament to
I hope you’ve had a chance to watch the video we’ve produced, and read the stories of veteran Michael and his journey from homelessness to housing advocate, Betty, a senior with a disability, and her new home, and one of our member developer’s fight against NIMBY-ism to develop affordable housing with seniors.
As a coalition, we’re only as strong as our members, and depend on your contributions to support our work. You make it possible for us to help those in need find a place call home, to spend time in legislature, and to work in communities across the state. It is with your help that we can achieve our vision that every North Carolinian has a safe and decent place to call home.
2013 looks to be another busy year. We’ll be working to grow and protect programs that create housing opportunities. We’ll continue to advocate for consumer protections and at preventing foreclosures. We’ll be working to organize tenants to ensure that their voices are heard. We’ll continue to administer the award-winning Carolina Homeless Information Network (CHIN), which now represents all one hundred counties.
As 2012 winds to a close, I’d like to thank all of you for the amazing work you’ve done. We constantly hear how North Carolina is a model in terms of our many innovative approaches to affordable housing. Thank you!
