Legal services organizations, which provide lawyers for people with low incomes, may be able to help you if you have legal troubles.

Legal Services of Southern Piedmont (704-376-1600 or 800-438-1254 (outside of Mecklenburg County) or 800-247-1931 (Spanish)) serves Charlotte/west-central NC.
Disability Rights North Carolina (877-235-4210) helps North Carolinians with disabilities across gain access to services and opportunity through its legally based advocacy.
NC Justice Center (919-856-2570) provides free legal services to low-income individuals on issues that impact litigation and policy matters.
NC Human Relations Commission (919-789-5930 or 866-324-7474) is a state agency that investigates complaints of discrimination and enforces NC’s Fair Housing Law.
The NC Attorney General’s Office (919-716-6000) handles consumer protection issues.
